New schools to cater for growing Mandurah

• Meadow Springs Primary School & Meadow Springs Education Support Centre officially opened

• The two schools opened for business on the first day of school this year   

Education options in the Peel region have been expanded thanks to a new primary school and education support centre opening just north of Mandurah. 

At the official opening of Meadow Springs Primary School and Meadow Springs Education Support Centre today, Education Minister Liz Constable said families in the area could feel confident that their children were benefiting from state-of-the-art facilities at the new schools.

"The Mandurah area is expanding rapidly, with many new housing developments attracting families with young children, and we are committed to meeting the needs of growing communities," Dr Constable said.

"We have already made substantial developments in education in the area, including setting up John Tonkin College.

"This is a very exciting time for this community, with committed community members having made important contributions during the planning process.

"In the five short months since the school and centre welcomed their first students, a strong partnership has been formed between the principals, staff, parents, students and the community."

More than $16million has been invested in the school and centre, with an inclusive education classroom, 12 general classrooms and a dental therapy office among the new facilities. 

"Children here have access to world-class facilities and cutting-edge technology," the Minister said.

"The architecture is very impressive and the design supports the inclusive education culture at this school.

"The school and centre are off to an extremely positive start and I'm sure we'll see students achieving great things."
